Hello! so I’ve just finished listening to Wuthering Heights chapter three during my spare time, and actually caught on to some interesting words. Some words were even from our previous vocabulary, you could imagine my excitement when I actually knew some of them!
Advent( from vocabulary)- The start of something;the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.
Vagabond( from vocabulary)- a nomad; having no settled home.
Stupefied-make (someone) unable to think or feel proper.
Obviate-remove (a need or difficulty); avoid.
Hieroglyphics- writing consisting of hieroglyphs.
Dispel-make (a doubt, feeling, or belief) disappear.
Congregation-a gathering or collection of people, animals, or things.
Sobriety-the state of being sober.
Soliloquised-to talk at length to yourself.
Appellation- a name or tile.
Vehemence-the display of strong feeling; passion.
Desirous-having or characterized by desire.
Lamentable-(of circumstances or conditions) deplorably bad or unsatisfactory.
Tumult-a loud, confused noise, especially one caused by a large mass of people.
Salient-most noticeable or important.
Transgressions-an act that goes against a law, rule, or code of conduct; an offense.
Stipend-a fixed regular sum paid as a salary or allowance.
Pulpit-a raised platform or lectern in a church or chapel from which the preacher delivers a sermon.
Embalming-give a pleasant fragrance to.
Lachrymose-tearful or given to weeping.
Floundered-struggle or stagger helplessly or clumsily in water or mud.
Garret-a top-floor or attic room, especially a small dismal one (traditionally inhabited by an artist).
Tome-a book, especially a large, heavy, scholarly one.
So these are some of the words that just sounded really foreign to me, and that’s about it for this blog share.
